Amara Organics is the first brand of natural cosmetics I decided to try on a regular basis. I was really glad to find out products without parabens, petrochemicals, phthalates and other not so healthy ingredients. I had a chance to use amazon.com for shopping (I live in Japan and not many products from USA are available for delivery here). After a research I found Amara cosmetics, which was affordable and had a description of products I liked. I purchased a toner, a serum, two types of face cream and an eye gel. Below are my impressions from using them.
Amara Organics Balancing facial toner with witch hazel & vitamin C.
Description from the manufacturer: This 100% natural facial toner refreshes, hydrates, and balances skin’s pH levels without stripping your skin or drying it out.
– Witch Hazel removes excess oil & shrinks pores
– Vitamin C brightens, smooths & refines skin texture & tone
– Aloe soothes, restores & hydrates skin
– Neroli heals & removes impurities
– Glycolic Acid exfoliates & unclogs pores
My impressions: I use this toner after removing makeup and foaming. It refreshes the face very well, but I wouldn’t say it hydrates the skin or makes huge difference. It is rather one more step in my routine, which I may do or skip if I should run to do things or go to bed. The texture is nice, quickly absorbed by the skin. After that I need to use a cream anyway. Also I like to use it in winter time to add extra moisturizing, in the warm time of the year the toner is good way to get refreshed (especially if it is stored in a cold place).
Size: 6 oz/177 ml
Would I recommend it: Yes, if you would like to have a little bit extra moisture
Amara Organics 20% Vitamin C Serum for face with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin E
Description from the manufacturer: Our potent 20% Vitamin C Serum contains STAY-C® 50, a stable form of Vitamin C that’s clinically proven to stimulate collagen, reduce wrinkles, brighten skin, fade age spots, and even skin tone.
My impressions: After a certain age, the cream becomes insufficient. That’s why a serum, which contains ingredients in a concentrated form, comes as one more additional step in skin care. This serum spreads on the skin well and quickly sinks in. I noticed that the pores on my face became lighter and narrowed. A small pigment spot became lighter.
Size: 1 oz/30ml
Would I recommend it: I would recommend this product for people with pigmentation and problem skin (after consulting a dermatologist). And also to girls after 30. For young skin the serum can probably be skipped.
Amara Organics Total Repair Eye Gel with Peptides & Plant Stem Cells
Description from the manufacturer: This lightweight gel formula is packed with powerful ingredients to address all eye area concerns. Cooling cucumber instantly soothes and awakens puffy eyes. Hyaluronic Acid plumps and hydrates while peptides and plant stem cells rejuvenate skin on a cellular level. Say goodbye to dark circles, puffiness, bags, and crow’s feet and reveal refreshed, radiant eyes.
My impressions: The skin under the eyes is very delicate and requires special care. I did not actually find the gel texture of this product perfect for me, just because I prefer something more melting. And although it does its job quite well, I prefer creams for this area.
Size: .5 oz/15ml
Would I recommend it: Yes, if you like products with gel texture.
Amara Organics Vitamin C Cream for Face with Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil & Vitamin B5
Description from the manufacturer: This rich cream nourishes dry, damaged skin and leaves your face silky soft and smooth.
My impressions: I just love-love-love this cream! No wonder it ended faster than all other products! He has ideal texture – not too oily, not too watery. Easily spreads over the skin. The manufacturer asks not to expect an instant result, but I saw it, maybe not on the first day, but quickly enough. The skin became more hydrated and elastic. The pores became lighter and narrower. A jar has a very convenient dispenser, one pressing is enough for the face, the neck and the neckline. I liked the cream so much that after it ended, I opened out the jar and used the leftovers.
Size: 1.7 oz/50ml
Would I recommend it: Yes, definitely!
Amara Organics 2.5% Retinol Cream for the Face with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamins E & B5
Description from the manufacturer: Our advanced blend of potent 2.5% Retinol + moisturising Hyaluronic Acid, Organic Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter will have you on your way to noticeably younger and more radiant skin.
- Repairs skin on a molecular level to erase fine lines and wrinkles
- Stimulates collagen for firmer, smoother skin
- Speeds up skin cell turnover to fade brown spots, discolouration, and acne scars
- Improves texture and tone for a smoother, softer, more radiant complexion
- Unclogs pores to clear up acne and prevent future breakouts
My impressions: This is my first cream with retinol. It has a slightly yellow tinge. The texture is the same as that of an ordinary face cream. I used it twice a week. The day after use, I applied the sunscreen on my face, even if the weather was cloudy and the UV index was low. The face began to look younger, nasolabial folds slightly tightened. By the way, I put it on my hands, and the difference is really noticeable. Hands began to look younger too. In the summer, I had to take a break in use, since the sun in Tokyo is very active. When the autumn comes I plan to use to it again.
Size: 1.7 oz/50ml
Would I recommend it: yes.
Conclusion: Amara Organics offers good products with affordable prices. Not all products are equally effective (and needed), but this brand is definitely worth a closer look. The packaging is simple and easy to use. My must-have from this brand – the Vitamin C facial cream.
